LARGE WEAVINGS

"Metamorphosis"

Picture

"Metamorphosis" was constructed on a homemade PCV pipe frame, using copper wire warp with copper wire and wool weft.

During the time that I created this large weaving I was in a winter studio in Colorado, a happy time spent in the mountains and the snow.  However, in the midst of family turmoil I opened a package containing a piece I had worked on earlier in the 1990's, and began to re-examine it. Not unlike the reassessment of family and new family ties that was happening, I began to play with the paper within the work, removing it in a similar way one clears old ideas from the mind.  As my relationships grew, so was my older weaving transformed into something new.
